Taigh Direach Ceart

Gordon, WI

When searching for a house to buy, the owners landed on this wooded property located on a quiet corner of Middle Eau Claire Lake.  The original house was a bit smaller than they planned to buy (earning the nickname “Taigh Beag”, Scottish for “little house”) and ultimately it was decided that an addition was needed.  A second floor was added to create a primary bedroom suite which had been missing in the original home.  A spacious 2-car garage with a work space and extra storage space was added on to the house as well.  Instead of letting it go to waste, the attic space over the new garage was finished out, creating a large hobby room and office space.  On the lake side of the house, the existing deck needed to be restructured and in the process it was decided to add a sun room overlooking the lake.  The inside of the existing house was reconfigured & updated to work with the new additions, provide a better flow of spaces and update finishes.  The renovated home is no longer little and instead provides just the right amount of space while maintaining a cozy vibe.
